Lady Belsara gets the trip at Turfway

Lady Belsara got a much better trip than she did last time and won the $50,000 Wishing Well Stakes at Turfway Park in Florence, Ky., on Saturday

Narrowly beaten following a tough journey in the Dec. 1 Holiday Inaugural at Turfway, Lady Belsara had smooth sailing under Bill Troilo throughout the six-furlong Wishing Well. She tracked from several lengths off the pace before surging to command with a steady outside run. She finished three lengths ahead of Just for Keeps, while Initforthekandy rallied to finish third in the field of 10 fillies and mares.

Lady Belsara, owned by the At the Moment Stables and based at Turfway with trainer Matt Kintz, returned $4.40 after finishing in 1:10.23 over Polytrack. The 5-year-old Boundary mare has won 5 of 11 starts. Her biggest career victory remains the Grade 3 Chicago Breeders' Cup last June at Arlington Park.
