La Troienne next for Beholder winner A Mo Reay

The $400,000 spent on A Mo Reay at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall mixed sale last November has proved to be a bargain in recent months.
A Mo Reay is unbeaten in three starts since the acquisition, including a win in the Grade 1 Beholder Mile for fillies and mares at Santa Anita on Saturday. A Mo Reay’s win in the $501,500 Beholder, the 4-year-old filly’s first victory in a race at the highest level, has trainer Brad Cox planning a start in the Grade 1 La Troienne Stakes at Churchill Downs on May 5.
The $750,000 La Troienne Stakes is for fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles, and is one of the top races for the division in the first half of the year.

A Mo Reay, owned by Hunter Valley Farm, has earned $517,625 this year. She won the minor Pago Hop Stakes at Fair Grounds in January and the Grade 3 Bayakoa Stakes at Oaklawn Park on Feb. 4.
In the Beholder, A Mo Reay closed from fourth to catch stretch leader Fun to Dream in the final strides. A Mo Reay ($17.80) won by a head.
“We’re happy with what we saw,” Cox said on Sunday.
A Mo Reay is scheduled to be flown to Kentucky on Tuesday. With the La Troienne as a springtime goal, A Mo Reay will have nearly eight weeks between starts.
