Ky. Senate bill aids breeders

The Kentucky Senate unanimously passed a budget bill on Monday night that includes provisions to establish subsidies for Kentucky breeders.

The bill, which had already been passed by the House, was modified slightly by the Senate. Because of the changes, the legislation will be sent to a conference committee before being sent back to both branches for approval.

The language establishing the subsidy programs, though, was not modified in the Senate bill that passed Tuesday.

The subsidies would be derived from the sales tax on stud fees, currently 6 percent.
