Kung Fu Mambo points to San Diego Handicap

DEL MAR, Calif. – Kung Fu Mambo, who ended a layoff of more than 2 1/2 years with a win in an optional claimer at Santa Anita last month, will have his American stakes debut in the $200,000 San Diego Handicap at 1 1/16 miles on July 25.
He will be part of a group of older horses using the San Diego as a prep for the $1 million Pacific Classic on Aug. 22.
Other candidates for the San Diego are Appealing Tale, Bayern, Catch a Flight, Hoppertunity, and Sahara Sky, who has been running in sprints but will start at a longer distance.
The top race on the final weekend of July is the $300,000 Bing Crosby Stakes for sprinters at six furlongs. Masochistic, the winner of the Grade 1 Triple Bend Stakes at Santa Anita on June 27, is the expected favorite.
