KTDF bonuses unclaimed as Kentucky-breds win only one of six Saturday stakes

FRANKLIN, Ky. – Kentucky-breds tend to dominate racing here and elsewhere in the United States, but it was horses bred in other jurisdictions that kept finding their way to the winner’s circle Saturday at Kentucky Downs, leading to a massive amount of bonus money left unclaimed.
Remarkably, five of the six stakes winners were not Kentucky-bred, meaning they missed out on the lucrative bonuses paid by the Kentucky Thoroughbred Development Fund to eligible runners. Even though there were as many as five stakes run Saturday with potential purses of $1 million, there actually were zero after those bonuses went unpaid.
Red Knight and Somelikeithotbrown both were bred in New York, Bran in France, Dalika in Germany, and Campanelle in Ireland. One Timer was the only winning Kentucky-bred.

Including payouts to other non-Kentucky-breds who competed, a whopping total of $1,559,235 in potential KTDF bonuses went unclaimed from those six stakes.
