Krawitz, former DRF ad rep, dies

Art Krawitz, former Western advertising representative of Daily Racing Form, died Wednesday night at his home in Santa Monica, Calif., according to his family. He was 53.

The cause of death was cancer, which Krawitz had been fighting for nine years. Krawitz, who was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., joined Daily Racing Form in 1993 after a career switch from social work. Before joining the Form, he was an advertising representative for the Racing Times and the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday at Mt. Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries in Hollywood Hills, 5950 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles.

Krawitz is survived by his wife, Linda Shafer, and two brothers, Jesse of Hartsdale, N.Y., and Ira of New York City.
