Krash Course seeks third straight win in TQHA Sale Futurity
Krash Course established himself as the favorite for Saturday night’s $435,680 Texas Quarter Horse Association Sale Futurity at Retama Park two weeks ago, when he won his trial in dominant fashion. He rolled by 1 1/2 lengths and in the process set the fastest qualifying time for the finale, one of two major Quarter Horse stakes on the card.
The TQHA Sale Futurity will share a program with the $156,600 Retama Park Derby.
Krash Course is looking for his third straight win. He was edged by a nose in his debut April 28 at Sam Houston, then came back and won a maiden race at the track in his next start May 12. But Krash Course took his game to a whole new level during the July 14 trials for the TQHA Sale Futurity. He showed more speed than ever before, leading throughout while covering 350 yards in 17.56 seconds. Jose Ivan Martinez was aboard and has the mount in the finale for trainer Jose Sanchez.
The filly Just Another Natural was the second-fastest qualifier for the TQHA Sale Futurity, winning her trial in 17.63 seconds July 14. She was a length winner under Francisco Calderon, who will be back aboard in the finale for trainer Leon Bard.
Krash Course will break from post 8 and Just Another Natural from gate 4.
Dash Quick Perry was the fastest qualifier for the Retama Park Derby when he won his 400-yard trial by 1 3/4 lengths on July 15. Calderon has the mount for Bard.
