The speedy stakes winner Boss Sully is unlikely to race again in the near future after a win in his 2026 debut in the Siren Lure Stakes at six furlongs on turf at Santa Anita on Sunday. Trainer Brian Koriner said earlier this week that Boss Sully will be raced sparingly this year, with the goal of running in lucrative stakes leading to the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Keeneland on Oct. 31. “We know he runs good fresh,” he said. “We’re not in a hurry to do anything.” Koriner said the Grade 2 Green Flash Handicap at Del Mar on Aug. 22 is “not a priority,” and that the Grade 2 Kentucky Downs Turf Sprint at six furlongs on Sept. 5 will be considered. The Green Flash has a record purse of $200,000 this year and has Grade 2 designation for the first time. The Kentucky Downs Turf Sprint has a total purse of $1.75 million, although $875,000 of the purse is restricted to Kentucky-breds. Boss Sully, who was bred in California, has won 6 of 17 starts and earned $469,392. He races for Rusty Brown, Alan Klein, and Phil Lebherz. In the Siren Lure Stakes, Boss Sully was the 3-1 favorite, and led throughout to win by 1 1/2 lengths over Unconquerable Keen. :: Play Santa Anita racing with confidence. He told us he is ready.” The Green Flash is possible for Unconquerable Keen, with a possible race in the interim, according to trainer Phil D’Amato. Unconquerable Keen is not a candidate for the turf sprint division’s final stakes of the current Santa Anita spring meeting, the Grade 3 Daytona Stakes at about 6 1/2 furlongs on the hillside turf course on June 13. He is winless in two career starts on the course. “He does not like the hill,” D’Amato said. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
