Anarchist, a graded stakes winner at Del Mar and Woodbine in 2023, will race outside of North America for the first time in the Group 3 OBS Korea Sprint in Seoul, Korea, this weekend. The $941,400 Korea Sprint is run on dirt at six furlongs. The winner receives a fees-paid berth to the Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Del Mar on Nov. 2. Anarchist was withdrawn because of injury from the BC Sprint at Santa Anita last October after pre-entries were announced. Anarchist, a 5-year-old horse, races for Ilium Stables and trainer Doug O’Neill, and has won 3 of 14 starts. Anarchist won the Grade 2 Pat O’Brien Stakes at Del Mar in August 2023, but is winless in two starts this year – a sixth-place finish in the Kelly’s Landing Stakes at Churchill Downs on June 29 and a fifth in the Grade 1 Bing Crosby Stakes at Del Mar on July 27. Earlier this year, Remake won the Group 3 Riyadh Dirt Sprint, a $1.5 million race at six furlongs in Saudi Arabia in February, and was fourth in the Group 1 Golden Shaheen Stakes in Dubai in March. Post time for the Korea Sprint is 2:20 a.m. Eastern on Sunday and 11:20 p.m. Pacific on Saturday. Korea Cup a Win and You're In for BC Dirt Mile Winner’s Man, the Korean Horse of the Year the past two seasons, and Crown Pride, 13th in the 2022 Kentucky Derby, start against nine rivals in the Group 3 Korea Cup at 1 1/8 miles on the same program as the Korea Sprint. The winner of the $1.07 million Korea Cup receives a fees-paid berth to the BC Dirt Mile at Del Mar on Nov. 2. Crown Pride and Winner’s Man were first and third in the 2023 Korea Cup. Winner’s Man closed the season with three consecutive stakes wins last November and December. The Korea Cup is his first start of 2024. Crown Pride, ninth behind the American-trained Senor Buscador in the $20 million Saudi Cup in Saudi Arabia in February, won the Mercury Cup at Morioka Racecourse in Japan on July 15 in his last start. The field includes two Korean champions of 2023 in Global Hit, the outstanding 3-year-old colt, and Success Macho, the outstanding miler.
