Dustin Orona Photography/Remington Park Kodaline (inside) got his head in front at the finish line to defeat Rachel’s Caper (9) in the Oklahoma Stallion Handicap for Colts & Geldings on Friday.

Kodaline fought for a head win in the $50,000 Oklahoma Stallion Colts and Geldings Handicap on Friday night at Remington Park, one year after his full brother, Kaleo, captured the race. The horses are by Foreign Policy and out of the mare Buena Fortuna.

Kari Craddock bred, owns, and trains Kodaline and Kaleo, who share names with foreign musical bands. Leandro Goncalves was aboard both horses for their wins in the Oklahoma Stallion.

The race Friday shared a card with the $50,000 Oklahoma Stallion Fillies won by Red River Witch ($18). The races were restricted to the 3-year-old offspring of eligible stallions. Both of the stakes were contested over seven furlongs.

Kodaline ($17) was content to let the pace go, settling behind contested fractions of 22.75 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.88 for the half-mile. He came five wide into to the stretch and battled Rachel’s Caper to the wire for a head win over that one Friday. Kodaline covered the distance on a fast track in 1:25.17.

Red River Witch was a 2 1/4-length winner over Expensive Liaison in the Oklahoma Stallion Fillies. Doudoudouwanadance pressed the pace in the race and finished fourth as the favorite.

Red River Witch set fractions of 23.10 seconds for the opening quarter and 46.81 for the half-mile before covering the distance on a fast track in 1:27.41.

David Cabrera was aboard the winner for breeder and owner Scattered Acres. Andy Gladd trains the daughter of Wilburn.
