OZONE PARK, N.Y. – With eight wins from 45 starters here this winter, trainer Oscar Barrera III is enjoying his best meet on the New York Racing Association circuit. Sunday, he’ll try to top it off with his first career stakes victory when he sends out Know It All Audrey in the $100,000 Biogio’s Rose for New York-bred females at Aqueduct. Since being claimed for $16,000 by Barrera last September, Know It All Audrey has three wins and two seconds from six starts. She is coming out of a fourth-place finish in the Broadway Stakes here on Feb. 12, but that race appears significantly tougher than this one. Any of the three fillies and mares who finished ahead of Know It All Audrey that day would be favored in this five-horse field. “She ran into a better field,” Barrera said regarding the Broadway. “I think the race Sunday should set up perfect for her. There’s a little speed in Impazible Donna; we’re on the inside of her. Manny [Franco] has the opportunity to break, get outside of her, sit and make her move.” Barrera has liked the way Know It All Audrey has trained since the Broadway, and the 4-year-old daughter of Shackleford has two wins over a wet track, a circumstance that could be in play Sunday. The Broadway was run at seven furlongs. The Biogio’s Rose is run at a mile, the distance at which Know It All Audrey has won twice for Barrera, including two starts back when she defeated Mia Bea Star. In what is her 43rd career start, Mia Bea Star is making her first start in a stakes in the Biogio’s Rose. :: Bet the races on DRF Bets! Two starts back, in a one-turn mile allowance, Timeless Journey finished second behind Frost Point, who came back to win the Heavenly Prize by 6 1/4 lengths with a career-best 87 Beyer Speed Figure. Ray Handal, trainer of Timeless Journey, said he was concerned whether Timeless Journey could get the 1 1/8 miles last time, but didn’t want to wait several more weeks to run. “She got a dream trip that day,” Handal said. “I don’t know if she wins if she doesn’t get the rail and Dylan [Davis] getting through there. I think she needs that kind of performance to win this week.” Timeless Journey is already a two-time winner going a one-turn mile at Aqueduct. She is also a two-time winner over a wet surface. Davis rides from post 3. Impazible Donna won a New York Stallion Series stakes going seven furlongs in the mud last Dec. 4. She has not yet tried a mile. Captainsdaughter, like Mia Bea Star, was supplemented on entry day to this race. She has finished second in three New York-bred stakes in her career for trainer Russell Cash. With only five entrants, the Biogio’s Rose is carded as the third on a nine-race program that begins at 1:20 p.m. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
