Kiss With a Twist - again

Kiss With a Twist put away odds-on Unspoken Word leaving the eighth pole, then held a late-closing De Star Express safe to post her second straight stakes victory Saturday in the $50,000 Wintergreen Stakes at Turfway Park in Florence, Ky.

With Bill Troilo riding for trainer Jose Fernandez, Kiss With a Twist finished a mile in 1:37.61 over Polytrack, returning $7.80 as second choice in field of five fillies and mares. De Star Express, the 3-1 third choice, was three-quarters of a length behind the winner and another 1 1/2 lengths ahead of Unspoken Word, who led most of the way as the 9-10 choice.

Kiss With a Twist, a 5-year-old mare by Lemon Drop Kid, was coming off a win in the Dec. 6 My Charmer at Turfway. She is owned by Alfred Nuckols Jr., whose son, Alfred III, bred the mare in a partnership, and she now has won 6 of 20 starts.

Four horses were scratched early, leaving the short field.
