Kiss My Hocks takes Sam Houston Futurity
In his career first start, Kiss My Hocks set a 330-yard track record of 16.43 seconds in time trials for the $563,950 Sam Houston Futurity on March 29. He did not need to run that fast to win the lucrative final for 2-year-old Quarter Horses on Saturday.
Ridden by Luis Vivanco, Kiss My Hocks ($5.60) won the Sam Houston Futurity by a half-length over 9-2 Glimpse of Dash. Kiss My Hocks led throughout from the inside post in a field of 10. Quic Carter, a 5-1 shot, finished third.
The Sam Houston Futurity was the first major Quarter Horse futurity of the year in Texas.
Kiss My Hocks earned $225,580 for owners Conda Maze and breeder Tyler Graham. Kiss My Hocks was timed in 16.71 seconds on Saturday.
“This horse has not disappointed me a day since I raised him,” Graham said. “We have a good team and he knows he’s a superstar.”
Kiss My Hocks is by Tempting Dash and is trained by Toby Keeton. The colt will be sent to Ruidoso Downs this summer.
