A $16,000 starter race with a $16,000 claiming option headlines Thursday’s eight-race card at Gulfstream Park. Post time for the first race is 1:05 p.m.
The Jose De’Angelo-trained Kingston Queen looks like the one to beat in the about five-furlong dash on Tapeta for 3-year-old fillies. The event drew six horses and goes the sixth race.
A Kentucky-bred daughter of Fast Anna, Kingston Queen won two of her last four races, with both wins coming in $12,500 claiming races on Tapeta.
In her latest outing, she dueled through honest fractions before setting for second in a $35,000 starter/optional-claiming race on April 14. The versatile filly came from fifth to win for $12,500 in her previous race Feb. 23. It was her first start for D’Angelo who was acting on behalf of In Front Racing Stables when he claimed her for $12,500 on Feb. 4 from a race in which she was the runner-up going 5 1/2 furlongs on the main track.
