War Painter Filly by Danish Dynaformer – Morning Tale, by Tale of Ekati Bred in Ontario by Charles Fipke ($30,000 Fasig-Tipton October yearling purchase by Canuck Racing Club) The consistent filly War Painter, winner of the Victorian Queen Stakes last year, has proved a bargain. She has already earned more than four times her purchase price, and the only time she has missed the board in her career was against colts last year. On the surface, the filly’s pedigree is a tale of stamina crossed with speed. However, a deep dive into her sprinter dam’s pedigree reveals serious route class. War Painter is from the second crop by Danish Dynaformer and is his first stakes winner. The stallion was predominantly a long-winded turf runner. Second in the 2015 Queen’s Plate, he went on to win the Breeders’ Stakes, the longest leg of the Canadian Triple Crown at 1 1/2 miles on turf. He later became a graded stakes winner at that distance in the Grade 3 Singspiel. :: 2024 King's Plate: Get odds, comments, analysis, and news for the 165th running of the King's Plate at Woodbine Morning Tale was a two-time winner, both in dirt sprints.
