ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Dotted Line will put his two-race win streak on the line when he takes on seven rivals in Wednesday night’s $100,000 Kingarvie Stakes for Ontario-sired 2-year-olds over 1 1/16 miles on Tapeta at Woodbine. Dotted Line is the even-money morning-line favorite for the Kingarvie on the strength of his back-to-back wins. He graduated from the maiden ranks with a 3 1/2-length victory Oct. 13 and followed up by winning the Frost King Stakes on Nov. 9. He earned an 81 Beyer Speed Figure as a 49-1 longshot in the Frost King. “We always liked this horse,” trainer Sid Attard said following the victory in the Frost King. “He’s a solid, strong horse. He’s a full brother to a stakes horse already, Signature Spring. [Signature Spring] was a nice 2-year-old, but he had bad knees for us. With this horse, he’s very solid.” Dotted Line has already had success going around two turns, as his maiden win took place over 1 1/16 miles on Tapeta. Attard said Dotted Line should love the stretch-out back around two turns for the Kingarvie. KEY CONTENDERS Dotted Line, by Signature Red Last 3 Beyers: 81-65-57 ◗ Dotted Line stalked the pace from the inside in the Frost King before slipping through on the rail and winning a thrilling stretch duel with the favored filly Artie’s Princess. ◗ Jockey Justin Stein was aboard for the first time in the Frost King, and he has confidence Dotted Line can repeat that performance in the Kingarvie. “He’s an exciting horse,” he said. “You have to watch him, though. He’ll try to kick you. He will do that for fun. But he’s all class once you’re on his back. I’m really pumped about this race. I think that he can win.” Lakeside Park, by Old Forester Last 3 Beyers: 59-46-53 ◗ He figures to be among the pacesetters. In his most recent start on Nov. 13, Lakeside Park set moderate fractions before fading to third while going 1 1/16 miles off of a freshening. ◗ He does have stakes experience, having finished fourth in the Simcoe Stakes on Aug. 28. The Reign Man, by Old Forester Beyer: 62 ◗ He’s one of three supplements in this event following his debut win over 6 1/2 furlongs on Tapeta on Nov. 10. ◗ Jockey David Moran will take over in the saddle from Stein, who sticks with Dotted Line. Artiesattheparty, by We Miss Artie Beyer: 60 ◗ He was in a three-way speed duel in his career debut Nov. 10. He hit the top of the stretch with the lead before settling for second behind Speedy Bolt. ◗ Jockey Rafael Hernandez takes over in the saddle on a horse who also figures to have a say in the early pace scenario.
