Here is my take on the late Pick 4 at Keeneland on Sunday, where two graded stakes – the Beaumont and Appalachian – are a part of the sequence. Below are my race-by-race thoughts and TicketMaker wagering strategy, provided rain on Sunday does not result in any of the scheduled turf races being moved to the main track. Wet weather is in Central Kentucky forecast. :: Build your pick four ticket with DRF TicketMaker Race 6 If this race stays on the grass, let’s begin with a single, using only Kulin Rock (6), and making him an “A” horse, meaning a primary play within TicketMaker. He far outperformed expectations when third at 44-1 odds in the Grade 2 Mac Diarmida last out at Gulfstream, beaten just a length by multiple graded winner and stablemate Zulu Alpha. Granted, that race was 1 3/8 miles and this one is 1 1/8 miles, but he seems versatile enough to handle the switch, at least against easier, first-level allowance rivals. Race 7 Feedback (8), whom trainer Chad Brown opted to run here rather than in Saturday’s 1 1/16-mile Ashland, is perfect in two starts, albeit a narrow winner of the Grade 3 Forward Gal in her seasonal debut. Still, three horses from the Forward Gal returned to immediately win, and another, third-place Champagne Anyone, just won the Gulfstream Park Oaks in her second start after the race. Feedback is an “A” in TicketMaker. Queen of Beas (3) and Mother Mother (2) rank as secondary “B” runners. The former comes off a pair of fast victories against lesser and the latter is a battle-tested California invader from the powerhouse Bob Baffert stable. Race 8 Inclined to spread a bit with a pair of “A” runners and two “B” horses in the Appalachian, with Clause (1)  and Princesa Carolina (5) falling in the “A” camp and Regal Glory (9) and Hard Legacy (8) in the “B” group. Clause was a good-looking maiden winner Feb. 9 at Gulfstream, dropping her head down the stretch and accelerating past her rivals, two of whom have returned to win. Princesa Carolina, meanwhile, just ran second in the Herecomesthebride to kick off her 3-year-old year, three-quarters of a length behind Cambier Parc, the 4-5 winning favorite. As for Regal Glory and Hard Legacy, both enter the Appalachian off troubled trips in the Sweetest Chant when they grew overeager behind slow early fractions. They are a little better than a quick glance at this form would otherwise indicate. Race 9 Last up is a straight maiden race for 3-year-olds at 1 1/16 miles, and Bandon Woods (9) and Ranger Up (6) are “A” runners, with the former preferred at what should be a higher price. Bandon Woods has move-forward potential in his first route, while morning-line favorite Ranger Up has the most established form, having been on the board in all three of his races. Drawn in a ground-saving position is Runnin’ Ray (1), a secondary “B” runner, who was entered in this route after landing on the also-eligible list for a seven-furlong maiden race on Saturday. The tickets Plugging the horses above into TicketMaker with a base wager of 50 cents and a budget of $27, an all-“A” ticket is emphasized three times for $1.50, combinations of three “A” horses and a “B” get played for $1, and tickets of two “A” horses with two “B” runners are backed at the 50-cent minimum. :: See Byron King’s pick four play in DRF TicketMaker and bet it with DRF Bets
