Making his first start at 4 after being away since last fall, he overcame a wide trip to catch and outgame graded winner Instilled Regard, yet he covered 74 more feet, according to Trakus. This race came at 1 1/16 miles on grass, and he gives the impression of being the type that should like even more ground.

After dueling early with favored Covfefe in an entry-level allowance, she seemed safely put away by that victorious rival in early stretch, but she just kept digging in to cut back into the Covfefe’s lead over the final furlong. Nice combination of speed and tenacity.

Racing in an outstanding renewal of the Commonwealth, he ran a sneaky good fourth when accounting for a difficult trip. Breaking from the fence, he was steadied early when placed in tight by the winner, Bobby’s Wicked One, who was guided to the fence immediately after making the lead. Hampered, this horse had every right to quit, but he kept fighting to lose by less than three lengths – even over seven furlongs, an eighth of a mile beyond his ideal distance.

Although not reflected in the chart of the race, she was climbing passing the wire the first time and around the first turn – perhaps even jumping some shadows. She did little thereafter, passing just a few tired runners, but seems capable of better with experience and equipment changes. Adding blinkers or a shadow roll could lead to improvement.
