King: How I'd Play Oaklawn for Monday, Feb. 20
Although the Razorback and the Southwest are the races that will command the most attention at Oaklawn on Monday, it is the last race - a maiden race at 1 1/16 miles - that has me intrigued from a betting perspective. I plan to play an exacta part-wheel, keying Vandelay (3) to run first or second.
Vandelay has shown steady progress in each of his three starts, particularly in his most-recent start when second going a mile in his first start around two turns. He seems the likely winner and is a decent price at his 7-2 morning line.
So I will go with a $3 exacta part wheel of 3 with 2 (Alito), 4 (Tapsolute), 9 (Blueridge Traveler). Then I will use the 2, 4, 9 on top of 3 for $2 apiece. Total cost is $15.
Hopefully Vandelay will perform well and will finish in the exacta with one of the better prices of the three.
