King of Dreams convincing Showing Up winner at overlaid price

King of Dreams was a convincing winner over Fighting Force in the $65,000 Showing Up at Gulfstream Park on Saturday. He was 7-2 on the morning line and paid a generous $16 for his three-length victory in the about one mile and 70-yard race for 3-year-olds.
The final time of 1:41.40 is a record for the newly installed Tapeta track.
With Leonel Reyes aboard, King of Dreams broke sharply and looked comfortable sitting off Moonlite Strike, who posted quick interior fractions of 22.91 and 46.20 seconds. He took over the lead just past the half-mile mark, opened up a clear lead turning for home, and was never threatened.
Fighting Force finished with determination but lost a lot of ground going wide around the stretch turn. Sigiloso came from a stalking position to finish third. He was involved in a bumping incident at the top of the stretch but after a lengthy stewards’ inquiry the result was left to stand.
King of Dreams and Fighting force were sired by Air Force Blue.
King of Kings was bred in Kentucky by Doug and Felicia Branham. He is trained by Juan Avila and races for Victoria’s Ranch.
