A 2-year-old filly by Killenaule led the way during the Indiana Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association’s Indiana fall mixed sale, held Oct. 19 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. A total of 63 horses were sold during the one day auction for revenues of $191,950. The average sale price was reported at $3,134, while the median finished at $2,100. Larry Smallwood was the winning bidder as agent on the sale-topper, a 2-year-old Kellenaule filly named North South Gal, who was secured for $16,000. The dark bay or brown filly is out of the unraced Theatrical mare Northern Revival, whose three winners from four foals to race include multiple Indiana-bred stakes winner Northern Candyride. She was consigned as agent by Richard Kohnhorst for Hunt & Smith Ventures. Bred in Indiana by Martin Schmucker, North South Gal is from the family of French champion Play it Safe, Grade/Group 1 winners Providential and Weiner Walzer, Group 2 winner Walzerkoenigin, and Group 3 winner Walzertraum.
