AUBURN, Wash. – Kikisoblu, a romping winner in her Emerald Downs debut, will be a much shorter price Sunday when she headlines the $50,000 Washington State Legislators Handicap for fillies and mares. Trained by Tom Wenzel for George Todaro of Seattle, Kikisoblu has won three of four career starts, and her May 10 victory in the six-furlong Hastings Handicap at Emerald was her best effort to date. She won by 4 1/4 lengths and earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 82. Even better for her growing fan club, she paid $19. Kikisoblu is likely to be the favorite in the 6 1/2-furlong Washington State Legislators, with bettors also taking a second look at I Think So, who romped in her Emerald debut May 24 and was claimed for $40,000. I Think So has three stakes victories at Hastings, and Dan Markle, her new trainer, was able to secure Julien Couton, Emerald’s leading rider. Couton likely will put I Think So into the mix early after breaking from the inside post in an eight-horse field. Kikisoblu rallied from a tracking position to win the Hastings. She will start from post 4 with jockey Rocco Bowen. Her stablemate, Bee Dees Bid, will break from post 2 and likely will make a beeline for the lead, just as she did in the Hastings. With her own rabbit in the race, Kikisoblu could find herself in a commanding position turning for home :: Bet Washington State Legislators Handicap with DRF Bets. Get up to a $500 cash bonus! KEY CONTENDERS Kikisoblu (Last 3 Beyers: 82-72-77) ◗ By Kodiak Kowboy from the Slewdledo mare Horse B With You, Kikisoblu is a half-sister to Burban, a 2008 foal who won 5 of 11 starts and $289,087, with a top Beyer of 98. I Think So (Last 3 Beyers: 80-56-61) ◗ A speedy 5-year-old, I Think So has raced sporadically over the past two years. She was idle from July to January and then had another two-month break before her eye-catching victory May 24. It has been more than two years since she posted a career-best 84 Beyer in May of her 3-year-old season. Lady of the Nile (Last 3 Beyers: 62-60-70) ◗ While she is just 10 starts into her career, Lady of the Nile is already with her fifth trainer, Robbie Baze. She closed willingly to finish third in the Hastings, nearly eight lengths behind Kikisoblu. Camille (Last 3 Beyers: 68-65-82) ◗ The runner-up behind I Think So in her last start, Camille is trending upward for trainer Manuel Ortiz, who is off to a strong start in his first season at Emerald (3-4-1 in 10 starts). Camille won the restricted Cactus Flower Stakes at Turf Paradise in December.
