Key contenders for Breeders' Cup Sprint
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLEIMPERIAL HINT, by Imperialism
Last 3 Beyers: 99-108-103
* Has matured since finishing second in the 2017 Sprint. One of his strengths is that he’s no longer a need-the-lead type horse.
* He’s won eight times and finished worse than second just once in 11 starts at the six-furlong distance of the Sprint.
* He finished off the board in both previous starts at Churchill Downs, but neither of those races were at his preferred distance of six furlongs.

ROY H, by More Than Ready
Last 3 Beyers: 105-96-105
* Defeated Imperial Hint by a length in last year’s Sprint, benefiting from a track bias that aided horses racing wide and rallying from off the pace.
* Matched a career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 111 winning the 2017 Sprint, although he has not approached that figure in three subsequent U.S. starts.
* After being upset in the Bing Crosby at Del Mar in July, he seemed rejuvenated once being relocated back to trainer Peter Miller’s main base of operations at San Luis Rey Downs.
Limousine Liberal, by Successful Appeal
Last 3 Beyers: 100-102-99
* He’s won his last five starts at Churchill Downs, all stakes, three of which were graded.
* He was beaten by both Promises Fulfilled and Whitmore in the Phoenix last out at Keeneland, but may have won with a cleaner trip.
* Relishes an off track. He is 3 for 3 over wet surfaces.

Whitmore, by Pleasantly Perfect
Last 3 Beyers: 100-104-98
* Finally got his first Grade 1 win earlier this year when slipping up the rail to upset the Forego at Saratoga.
* Although based at Churchill Downs year round, he’s raced over his home track only three times, with one victory.
* He is a couple of necks and a head away from coming into the Breeders’ Cup with a four-race win streak, having suffered narrow setbacks in the Phoenix, Belmont Sprint, and True North during the second half of the season.
Promises Fulfilled, by Shackleford
Last 3 Beyers: 101-99-108
* He’s the lone 3-year-old in the Sprint field and has made only one start against older horses, winning the Phoenix in game fashion over Whitmore and Limousine Liberal.
* Has had only two starts at six furlongs, the Phoenix and his maiden win at Churchill Downs more than one year earlier.
