Key contenders for Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf

THRILLED (Last 3 Beyers: 78-73-72)
• Traded decisions with possible favorite Harmonize in a pair of matchups prior to a runner-up finish in the Miss Grillo, edging Harmonize by a nose in a maiden race Aug. 9 before running second, beaten four lengths by her, in the P.G. Johnson; perhaps poised to see an inside-pocket trip behind the speed.
ALICE SPRINGS (No Beyers)
• An invader from Europe, she adds Lasix for the first time and could improve with a stretch-out in distance, having a staying pedigree; another who seemed to draw favorably and looks in position to get covered up early, a style many Europeans prefer.
CATCH A GLIMPSE (Last 3 Beyers: 91-72-43)
• In winning the Grade 2 Natalma at Woodbine, she defeated a pair of next-out winners in Gamble’s Ghost and Caren, although they repeated in easier races on Polytrack, running lesser Beyers than they earned in chasing Catch a Glimpse in the Natalma.
SAPPHIRE KITTEN (Last 2 Beyers: 79-68)
• A lightly raced filly, she has as much room to improve as any in the field; first in a six-furlong sprint at Kentucky Downs in her debut, she returned to fall just short of Harmonize when second, beaten a neck, in the Jessamine in her first route.
HARMONIZE (Last 3 Beyers: 80-82-72)
• Has shown the versatility to race prominently early and win, or successful rally from the rear half of the field, as she did in taking the Jessamine; provided she reverts to her prior style of racing close to the leaders, she looks capable of sitting a nice stalking trip in third of fourth entering the first turn.
ILLUMINATE (No Beyers)
• Is arguably the classiest of the European raiders, having recorded three victories and a runner-up finish in four starts, with her only defeat being a second in a Group 1; after three straightaway races at six furlongs, the Juvenile Fillies Turf reflects a quarter-mile stretch-out, and she is now racing two turns.
