Key contenders for Breeders' Cup Distaff

Wedding Toast (Last 3 Beyers: 103-102-97)
• Godolphin homebred has been an absolute terror in one-turn routes at Belmont, but trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said the 5-year-old mare is similarly able at other venues. “She was at a disadvantage when we started her off going short early in the year,” he said.
Sheer Drama (Last 3 Beyers: 98-96-94)
• Admirably consistent mare will need for Joe Bravo to bring one of his typically cagey rides to overcome the tough post; aside from the Grade 1 Personal Ensign, this Florida-bred mare also won the Grade 1 Delaware Handicap and Grade 2 Royal Delta to go with four runner-up finishes this year.
I’m a Chatterbox (Last 3 Beyers: 95-94-92)
• Chestnut filly will need an alert break to maintain decent position, and she hasn’t always gotten away to clean starts; really came to hand as the year unfolded, with big efforts in many of the prestigious 3-year-old races, ending with her authoritative Cotillion score.
Stopchargingmaria (Last 3 Beyers: 93-95-94)
• Probably was a bit out of her element when going to the lead in the Personal Ensign, and all the opposing speed in here likely means she and Javier Castellano can sit a more favorable trip from her No. 4 post; the clockers and trainer Todd Pletcher were quite impressed with her final blowout for this.
Stellar Wind (Last 3 Beyers: 94-91-86)
• Perhaps a bit under the radar while dodging all the major 3-year-old filly races in the eastern sector aside from her Kentucky Oaks attempt, she has a terrific kick that could come well served at a square price, especially assuming a too-fast pace.
Got Lucky (Last 3 Beyers: 98-96-96)
• She did get a pretty comfortable trip before surging late to win the Spinster; still, she’s legit, having run a good second in the Personal Ensign behind Sheer Drama and ahead of Untapable and Stopchargingmaria.
