Kevin Gilmore named chief operating officer of The Stronach Group
Kevin Gilmore, a former sports executive and consultant, has been hired by The Stronach Group as its executive vice president and chief operating officer, the company announced on Thursday.
Gilmore, who has provided consulting services to The Stronach Group over the past several years, will work with The Stronach Group’s chairman, Belinda Stronach, “on corporate objectives and key strategic objectives,” according to a release from the company. He will also work with executives at The Stronach Group’s family of racing companies, known as 1/ST, “to drive growth and performance and to achieve strategic objectives.”
The Stronach Group is the holding company for a variety of real estate and commercial assets, including the divisions under the 1/ST racing brand, which own and operate a number of high-profile racetracks, including Santa Anita, Gulfstream Park, Pimlico Race Course, and Golden Gate Fields. Belinda Stronach received control over the company as the result of a settlement of litigation involving herself and her father, Frank Stronach.
Gilmore has previously worked for the Montreal Canadiens, the Major League Soccer team Montreal Impact, the Los Angeles Kings, and the Anaheim Ducks. He founded a sports consulting firm, 4Sports, in 2016.
“Kevin’s breadth of expertise crossing sports, entertainment, real estate, and business management will support my vision for the evolution of The Stronach Group as we work to identify new opportunities to capitalize on the shifting sports, entertainment, and content landscape,” said Belinda Stronach, in the release.
