Kera Kera back at favorite track for Princess of Palms
PHOENIX – Kera Kera may be poised for an upset in a very competitive renewal of the $30,000 Princess of Palms Stakes at Turf Paradise on Saturday. The six-furlong event for fillies and mares drew a field of seven.
Owned and trained by Satchell Stevens, Kera Kera loves it at Turf Paradise, having won four of her eight local starts. She was second three other times.
Kera Kera concluded last season’s meet with three straight wins in February and March before going to Prairie Meadows for the spring and summer. She won an allowance sprint for Iowa-breds at Prairie to run her streak to four but lost her final five starts there. Kera Kera has not raced since running third in the Donna Reed Stakes for Iowa-breds on Aug. 13.
Scott Stevens rides Kera Kera, who breaks from post 4 and is 8-1 on the morning line.
Star of Munster, trained by Robertino Diodoro, invades from Southern California and is the 5-2 morning-line favorite. She’s won 3 of 9 this year, with all three wins coming in dirt sprints. She ran fourth in an allowance turf sprint at Del Mar on Sept. 3 in her most recent start. Jorge Bourdieu rides.
