Joe Labozzetta/NYRA Kept True got clear for a three-length victory in Saturday's Broadway Stakes.

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Kept True, second to Cash Offer in last month’s La Verdad Stakes, turned the tables on that filly Saturday, defeating Cash Offer by three lengths in the $100,000 Broadway Stakes for New York-bred fillies and mares at Aqueduct.

Kept True got the same stalking-from-second trip in the Broadway that she did in the La Verdad, but this trip worked better at six furlongs than it did in the seven-furlong La Verdad.

“Sitting second going six furlongs is different than sitting second going seven,” winning trainer Leah Gyarmati said. “We did get the lead going seven and then lost it because Cash Offer was waiting.”

Under Dylan Davis, Kept True stalked Stonesintheroad through a quarter in 23.03 seconds and a half-mile in 46.80. Davis roused his filly turning for home and she was never seriously threatened in the lane.

Kept True, a 4-year-old daughter of Yes It’s True owned and bred by Jeff Treadway, covered the six furlongs in 1:11.51 and returned $5.80 as the favorite. She improved her record to 5-2-1 from 10 starts.

Cash Offer, who sat behind horses early on, finished second by a half-length over Hay Field. She was followed by Bluegrass Jamboree, Stonesintheroad, and Out of Orbit as the field finished in pari-mutuel order.

“I loved my position laying second and then she was just waiting for me to tell her to go and when I did she really took off,” said Davis, who won three races on Saturday’s card. “She really ran well. I think she’s improving.”
