Florida Derby winner Take Charge Indy  worked five furlongs in 1:00:47 at Palm Meadows on Thursday in his final prep for the Kentucky Derby. With exercise rider Susie Bricker aboard, Take Charge Indy broke off at the half-mile pole in company with stablemate Zimmer and posted fractions of 11.60, 23.60 and 35.60 and 47.60, according to track clocker Bryan Walls, before galloping out six furlongs in 1:14.60. “It was a super work, he couldn’t have gone any better,” said trainer Pat Byrne. “He went a little faster than I liked but that’s all right because of the way he did it. He looked like he was just two-minute-licking out there.” Take Charge Indy will ship to Churchill Downs on Tuesday on a flight that will include two other Derby starters, Gemologist and El Padrino, along with potential Kentucky Oaks favorite Grace Hall.
