Kentucky Derby: Who's hot, who's not for April 4, 2018

WHO’S HOT
It’s a case of something old, something new, as two former members of the Derby Watch top 20 – Gronkowski and Instilled Regard – are back on the list, joined by two newcomers, Hofburg and Restoring Hope. Gronkowski won the Burradon to put himself atop the points list for the seven-race European Road to the Derby series, which guarantees him a spot in the Kentucky Derby field. Hofburg was second in the Florida Derby, while both Instilled Regard and Restoring Hope make their final bids for a berth in the Derby field in races Saturday.
Mike Watchmaker, Daily Racing Form’s national handicapper, has Hofburg at 20-1 on his future line for the Derby, with Gronkowski, Instilled Regard, and Restoring Hope all at 30-1. Justify is now the second choice at 6-1 from last week’s 8-1, with Florida Derby winner Audible now 8-1 after being 12-1 a week ago. Mendelssohn is the co-third choice at 8-1 following his smashing win in the United Arab Emirates Derby; he was 20-1 last week. Watchmaker also dropped the price on Noble Indy, who is now 15-1 from last week’s 20-1.
WHO’S NOT
Catholic Boy, Gold Town, McKinzie, and Strike Power all were removed owing to either injury or poor performance. Promises Fulfilled, 20-1 last week, had his price doubled to 40-1 following his last-place finish in the Florida Derby. His Fountain of Youth win gives him sufficient points to make the Derby field.
