Kentucky Derby: Barber Road, Un Ojo in good shape after final works

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Barber Road and Un Ojo, both of whom arrived at Churchill Downs off the Oaklawn Park road to the Kentucky Derby, emerged from their final works for the spring classic in good order, their respective camps reported Sunday morning.
Barber Road, most recently second in the Arkansas Derby after placing in two other graded stakes at Oaklawn, breezed in a maintenance half in 48.80 seconds on Saturday morning, according to Churchill Downs clockers. The gray colt was bright-eyed and playing with a ball hanging by his stall after walking John Ortiz’s shedrow on Sunday morning.
Un Ojo also had a walk day Sunday morning, with the father-son team of Ricky and Clay Courville tending to the gelding after he worked a half-mile in 47.39 on the watch of Daily Racing Form clocker Mike Welsch.
Un Ojo won the Rebel Stakes in February, but then was eighth with a very troubled trip in the Arkansas Derby.
