Kenny Peck's Finger Lakes pick four play for Monday, July 24, 2023
RACE 1: Taking an immediate stand with JAK N BURNY, a firster from trainer Debra Breed who has been training very well toward this debut. He may need to show a rating gear, as there's speed to his inside and out, but if he can sit off the pace and make a run in the lane he may be good enough, if those sharp breezes are any indication (1).
RACE 2: HERO TIGER comes off a fairly easy win at this track and distance and can easily repeat here if he gets a quick, contested pace to chase as expected. MIAMI CHROME has competitive Beyers and takes a class drop for this, which is his third start off the layoff. He's another who could fall into a good stalking trip behind pressured fractions (2).
RACE 3: AMERICA'S JUSTICE prepped in a sprint in his first start off the layoff, and he could be set for a move forward here, especially if he can avoid a race-long duel up front. DANCERS FOR TOKEN heads the Jonathan Buckley entry, with stablemate BROTHER JEREMIAH also a logical contender. He's an upgrade candidate after racing on the lead and fading in his latest, a race that set up well for the closers. FULL MOON FEVER makes his first start off the Jeffrey Englehart claim, and he's a strong fit on the strength of his best figures (3).
RACE 4: Using them all in this maiden special weight route, which is very tough to plot in terms of pace and race flow. There also are a lot of distance questions to answer, as several of these runners are trying two turns for the first time, and it's difficult to confidently back or to weed out the shorter-priced runners (7).
