Wednesday’s closing-night card at Assiniboia Downs features mandatory payouts in the Jackpot Hi-5 and the pick five. The pick five will guarantee a $1 million payout to a single-ticket winner. DRF handicapper Kenny Peck provides his suggested pick five ticket. First post in the sequence is 9:35 p.m. Eastern. RACE 3: CARLOS SIXES (No. 5) makes his first start off the Shelley Brown claim and appears to be very well spotted, as his Beyers stand out against this field. His latest marked a slight regression off his prior pair, but he had a pace excuse there, behind controlled fractions while racing last early versus only three rivals, but he did well to rally in the lane. RACE 4: Last time out, BACOLI (No. 1) was re-claimed by Jared Brown, who lost him two back, and he’s a threat right back after running second under similar conditions in that last one. TALLY (No. 3) has dangerous speed and is a threat to steal this if he’s able to shake loose in the opening stages. ANIAR (No. 4) has had race-flow issues in most of his races this year, which is a big reason he’s been unable to win, but he did close with interest for the place in his latest. :: Bet the races with confidence on DRF Bets. RACE 5: DARPA (No. 2) should appreciate this class relief, coming off a stakes try where she rallied some for the place and is now entered for a tag. She meets males, but she’s good enough to handle this assignment in her current form. GOLD BUYER (No. 5) was a convincing winner in his latest over this track last week, and he’s the one to beat right back. RACE 6: TUFFENOUGHTOSTART (No. 5) seems to hold a pace advantage in this sprint, and if she can get clear with relative ease has every right to lead these from start to finish. She goes a little longer, but she is proven at this distance, winning here three back when she was able to shake loose and control the tempo. RACE 7: CALL THE COPS (No. 6) cuts back from a front-running score going 1 1/8 miles, but he may well still be the main speed in this sprint, which is otherwise short on pace. He has steady Beyers and is clearly in sharp form, winning two of his last three, and he figures tough to reel in late. THE PLAY: 5 / 1, 3, 4 / 2, 5 / 5 / 6 = 6 Combinations ($3 Ticket)
