Steve Andersen|Jul 22, 2006

Charles Kenis, who raced such major stakes winners as Inesperado, Mazel Trick, See You Soon, and Super Quercus, died Friday at his Los Angeles area home after a recent illness, the family announced. Kenis was 95, according to his son, Steve Kenis.

Kenis operated a racing stable with his late wife, Audrey Skirball-Kenis, who raced under the name 3+U Stable. Audrey Skirball-Kenis died in June 2002.

As an owner, Kenis had horses with Bobby Frankel, Jenine Sahadi, and Ron McAnally in recent years.

Services are scheduled for Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Hillside Memorial Park, 6001 Centinela Ave., Los Angeles.
