Kenai Bob likely to run at Remington meet
Kenai Bob, a stakes winner in the best form of his career, will be based at the Remington Park meet, which opens Friday night, according to his trainer, Francisco Bravo.
Kenai Bob won the $75,000 Assault Stakes over fellow Texas-breds Mr Money Bags and Sunlit Song in his last start July 10 at Lone Star Park, and before that won an open-company allowance at the track over multiple stakes winner Hunka Burning Love.
“Kenai Bob is resting right now,” Bravo said. “He campaigned hard, and we’re giving him some time off. Hopefully, he’ll be able to go back to Houston again. That’s what the plans are with him.”
Kenai Bob was an allowance winner last winter at Sam Houston and also placed in a pair of stakes at the meet. Before then, he will likely make a start or two at Remington, said Bravo, who has a 26-horse division at Remington.
Kenai Bob’s last two wins came in mile races.
“He likes that mile,” Bravo said. “He doesn’t like it any shorter than that, doesn’t like it any longer than that.”
Kenai Bob is a son of Shackleford owned by Michael Grossman.
