LEXINGTON, Ky. – The following are horses to watch in Tuesday’s session of the Keeneland September yearling sale, the Book 4 finale and the eighth session of the sale overall. Horses were selected largely based on their pedigrees, and these selections factor in catalog updates and sale outs through Monday. Hip 2417, filly by Flameaway - Set'n On Ready, by More Than Ready. Consigned by Vinery Sales, agent. This is the first crop for Flameaway, whose yearlings have been averaging more than eight times his introductory stud fee. This filly, out of a stakes-placed mare, is a half-sister to Grade 3-winning juvenile Sittin On Go. Hip 2430, colt by Uncle Mo - Silsita, by Macho Uno. Consigned by Cara Bloodstock, agents for Saintsbury Farms. This son of classic sire Uncle Mo is out of a Grade 3-winning mare who has already produced stakes winner First Empire. Hip 2443, filly by Preservationist - Soundwave, by Friends Lake. Consigned by Airdrie Stud, agent This stakes-winning mare is the dam of Grade 3-winning Dean Martini. From the first crop of Grade 1 winner Preservationist, this filly is also from the immediate family of champion Echo Zulu and Grade 1 winner Echo Town. Hip 2494, colt by Mitole - Unacloud, by Unaccounted For. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales, agent. From the first crop of champion sprinter Mitole, this is a half-brother to Grade 1 winners Overanalyze and Meadow Breeze; Grade 1-placed Majesto; and Grade 2-placed Mighty Monsoon. Hip 2521, filly by American Pharoah - Afleet Maggi, by Afleet Alex. Consigned by Blake-Albina Thoroughbred Services, agent. This is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Dream Tree and stakes-placed O' Maggi. Hip 2545, colt by Cairo Prince - Biofuel, by Stormin Fever. Consigned by Airdrie Stud. Multiple graded stakes winner Biofuel was Canadian Horse of the Year, and she is a half-sister to fellow Canadian champion Tu Endie Wei. Hip 2555, filly by Into Mischief - Capulus, by Tapit. Consigned by Blake-Albina Thoroughbred Services, agent. As the September sale moves deeper into its second week, yearlings by leading sires such as Into Mischief become rarer – and are more of a big fish in a small pond when they do appear. This is the first foal out of a Tapit mare whose own dam is the commercially popular Grade 3 winner Super Espresso. This is the extended family of blue hen Courtly Dee, further increasing this filly’s residual value as a broodmare prospect. Hip 2559, filly by Vino Rosso - Catch the Flag, by A.P. Indy. Consigned by St George Sales, agent. This is the first crop for champion Vino Rosso, and this is a productive cross, as Vino Rosso’s sire, Curlin, has produced a number of Grade 1 winners when matched with A.P. Indy mares. Catch the Flag is the dam of stakes winner Checkered Past – by Curlin’s sire Smart Strike – who, in turn, is the dam of Grade 3 winner Messier. This is the immediate family of Canadian champions Catch the Ring and Catch the Thrill. The latter is the dam of stakes winner Curlin's Catch. Hip 2721, filly by Curlin - Lucy N Ethel, by During. Consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, agent. Yearlings by leading sire Curlin will be harder to find moving deeper into the sale, and this filly is out of a multiple graded stakes winner. Hip 2725, filly by Bernardini - Makin' Sense, by Street Sense. Consigned by Mill Ridge Sales, agent. The late Bernardini has not only been a successful sire, but a smashing broodmare sire, and there will be few opportunities left to acquire his daughters; many were outs early in the sale, their breeders choosing to hang on to them. This filly's dam is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Tiz Windy and Grade 1-placed Patch. This is the productive family of champion Banshee Breeze.
