Keeneland September: Book 4 horses to watch on September 19

Nicole Russo|Sep 18, 2022

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The following are horses to watch in Monday’s session of the Keeneland September yearling sale, the Book 4 opener and the seventh session of the sale overall. Horses were selected largely based on their pedigrees, and these selections factor in catalog updates and sale-outs through Sunday.

Hip 1973, filly by Kantharos - Potesta, by Macho Uno. Consigned by Summerfield Sales, agent for Stonestreet Farm.

Grade 2 winner Potesta is the dam of three winners from four starters.

Hip 2132, filly by Kantharos - Bella Dorato, by Goldminers Gold. Consigned by Summerfield Sales, agent for Stonestreet Farm.

Stakes-placed Bella Dorato has produced five winners from as many starters, led by Breeders' Cup Sprint winner and divisional champion Trinniberg.

Hip 2133, colt by Curlin - Bellavais, by Tapit. Consigned by Denali Stud, agent.

This is the first foal out of a Grade 3 winner from a prolific family, as her first two dams are Grade 3 winner La Cloche and multiple Grade 1 winner and blue hen Memories of Silver - whose descendants include Grade 1 winner and stakes producer Winter Memories.

Hip 2246, filly by Arrogate - Hay Dilly, by Candy Ride. Consigned by Bedouin Bloodstock, agent.

There will be limited opportunities left to secure young stock by Arrogate, as this is his third and final crop. He is the sire of Kentucky Oaks winner Secret Oath from his first crop, and a pair of Grade 1-winning juveniles from his second crop. Off that note, this filly is from a precocious family; her dam, a winning juvenile, is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Basin and Grade 3 winner Rise Up.

Hip 2294, colt by Justify - Lahinch Classics, by Galileo. Consigned by Denali Stud, agent.

This is a page that will appeal to European shoppers, particularly pinhookers, still looking to fill orders at this sale. Justify is already the sire of a pair of group stakes winners overseas, while this is the family of juvenile Grade/Group 1 winners Brave Anna and Hit It a Bomb.

Hip 2309, colt by Audible - Lisa T., by Awesome Again. Consigned by Legacy Bloodstock, agent for WinStar Farm.

This is the first crop for classic-placed Grade 1 winner Audible, a son of leading sire and emerging sire of sires Into Mischief. Winning mare Lisa T. is a half-sister to Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver, graded stakes winners Cyrus Alexander and Brethren, and to Quickest, dam of Grade 1 winner Callback and stakes winner Defy Gravity. This is the immediate family of champion Rhythm, Grade 1 winners Bluegrass Cat and Girolamo, and others.

Hip 2313, filly by Medaglia d'Oro - Love the Chase, by Not For Love. Consigned by Bedouin Bloodstock, agent.

Love the Chase is the dam of five winners from seven starters. Chief among those is dual classic winner and two-time Horse of the Year California Chrome.
