Keeneland September: $115,000 Not This Time colt leads penultimate session
LEXINGTON, Ky. - A colt by popular young sire Not This Time sold for $115,000 on Thursday to lead the penultimate session of the Keeneland September yearling sale.
Keeneland reported 169 horses sold - the 11th session of the sale overall, and the first of two comprising the final book of the auction, Book 6 - for a gross of $2,086,600. The average price was $12,347 while the median for the session was $7,000.
The buyback rate finished at 17 percent, the best rate of any individual session of the sale thus far. After Book 1 opened the sale with a 40 percent buyback rate over the first two days of the sale, the number has gradually improved into the middle and lower markets.
The session-leading Not This Time colt was purchased by Royal Flush Racing from the consignment of Trackside Farm, as agent for Tenlane Farm. The colt was the second session-topper at this sale for Not This Time, as he also sired a colt who sold for $320,000 to lead a Book 4 session earlier in the week.
Grade 3-winning juvenile Not This Time, who stands at Taylor Made Farm, currently leads all freshman sires with 10 individual winners, including Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante winner Princess Noor, stakes winner Dirty Dangle, and Grade 3-placed Hopeful Princess.
The session leader is out of the winning Dixie Union mare Race Hunter, whose first starter is a winner. The mare is a half-sister to graded stakes winner Paid Up Subscriber, and graded stakes winners Stanley Park, Top Kisser, and Tricky Squaw appear on the catalog page.
