Keeneland Sale: Major Wager, in foal to More Than Ready, brings $260K
The graded stakes-producing mare Major Wager was the highest-priced mare early as the Keeneland November breeding stock sale continued on its fifth day on Saturday, selling to Eaton Sales for $260,000 to become the early session topper.
Taylor Made Sales Agency consigned the 14-year-old Valid Wager mare, who was in foal to More Than Ready.
Major Wager is the dam of four winners from as many foals to start, including J Be K, who won the Grade 2 Woody Stephens Stakes, Grade 3 Bay Shore, and Grade 3 Jersey Shore Stakes in 2008.
Major Wager, a winner of $189,616, was multiple stakes placed as a juvenile, finishing second in the Valley Stream Stakes and third in the Grade 2 Astarita Stakes.
Out of the Icecapade mare Amidst, dam of nine winners from as many starters, Major Wager is a half-sister to Atoned, who won the Grade 3 Pegasus Stakes and earned $547,546.
