LEXINGTON, Ky. – Keeneland Racecourse will make its tailgating amenities available on Sundays for the first time during this year’s spring meet starting April 7, the track said Thursday. The tailgating area, known as the Hill, has become immensely popular over the past decade. Amenities, which included a jumbotron showing live races, a covered bank of live tellers and self-service machines, and food trucks, were previously only made available on Fridays and Saturdays. Keeneland also provides shuttles from the Hill to the racetrack gates. Parking at Keeneland is free, and the Hill has become a popular destination among the college-aged crowd in Lexington. The area routinely attracts thousands of people, especially on good weather days, making the atmosphere more akin to a football game than a racetrack.  This year’s Keeneland meet runs April 7-28, with a dark day on Easter Sunday, April 9. Tickets for the meet go on sale Feb. 14. Keeneland implemented a policy during the COVID-19 pandemic requiring the pre-purchase of all tickets, and that policy will remain in place. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
