Keeneland to offer 191 in evening sessions

The Keeneland Association has cataloged 191 horses to its upcoming April 2-year-olds in training sale, down from the 227 horses cataloged last season.

The sale will have a new format this year, expanding from one session to two and selling in the evening rather than the afternoon. The auction will be held on April 8 and 9, with sessions beginning at 7 p.m. in the Keeneland sale pavilion.

An under-tack show will take place April 7 at Keeneland, starting at 10:30 a.m.

After withdrawals, last year's auction sent 155 horses through the ring, selling 82 for gross receipts of $16,637,000, resulting in an average price of $202,890 and a $155,000 median. Patricia's Gem, a sale-record $1.75 million Mineshaft-Stylish Talent filly, topped the sale. B. Wayne Hughes purchased the filly from Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds, agent.
