Barbara D. Livingston Stuart Janney III will have a dispersal of his breeding stock in Keeneland's November sale.

Stuart S. Janney III, who is chairman of The Jockey Club and a lifelong Thoroughbred breeder and owner, will offer a complete dispersal of his breeding stock at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale.

The dispersal consignment at the sale, which runs Nov. 5-13, will be handled, as agent, by Claiborne Farm, which has long boarded horses for the Janney and Phipps families.

“The relationship between the Janney family and Claiborne goes back even before the days of Ruffian," Claiborne's Seth Hancock said in a release distributed by Keeneland. "No one has shown more energy, passion, and love for the game than Stuart.”

Janney is the son of Stuart and Barbara, who bred and raced the aforementioned Hall of Famer Ruffian, and horses such as Grade 1 winner and sire Private Terms and Grade 2 winner and sire Icecapade.

Janney bred and raced 2013 Kentucky Derby winner Orb, in partnership with first cousin Ogden Mills "Dinny" Phipps and Phipps Stable. Janney's other top runners include Grade 1 winners Data Link and Hymn Book and graded stakes winners Air Support, Hit It Rich, Ironicus, and On Leave.

The complete catalog for the Keeneland November sale will be released later this week, but Keeneland announced that the dispersal consists of 13 broodmares and broodmare prospects. Three of those will be offered in the select Book 1 portion on Nov. 5 – stakes winner In a Hurry, in foal to Claiborne's stalwart sire War Front; Mata Mua, dam of Grade 3 winner Scarlett Sky, and in foal to promising young stallion Life Is Good; and Secure Connection, a daughter of Mata Mua, and in foal to rising leading sire Not This Time.

The second session of the sale on Nov. 6 will have Janney offerings including On Leave, in foal to Street Sense; graded stakes winners My Impression, in foal to Candy Ride, and Onus, in foal to Violence; and broodmare prospect Gun Boat, a daughter of Onus

“Stuart Janney and his horses have long represented quality and class, and Keeneland is honored to present this dispersal at the November sale,” Keeneland vice president of sales Tony Lacy said. “Mr. Janney has developed these bloodlines for generations, and these families will be highly prized by breeders and owners.”
