With three days remaining, the Keeneland November breeding stock sale has already surpassed its total gross sales from 2024, while continuing to show double-digit gains in the cumulative average and median figures to this point. The Keeneland November sale has now completed five of its eight sessions, beginning with a single-session Book 1, then two-session Books 2 and 3, the latter of which concluded Saturday evening. Keeneland reports that 1,125 horses have sold to this point for gross receipts of $214,871,000. Through the same five sessions and three books last year, 1,055 horses were sold for $163,353,500. Both sets of figures represent horses sold through the ring and do not account for private sales that will later be included in Keeneland’s official records. The cumulative average price is $190,996, up 23 percent from $154,837 at this point last year. The median is up 37 percent, at $130,000 compared to $95,000. The overall buyback rate is also improved, sitting at 21 percent compared to 25 percent. The top-priced horse of the just-concluded Book 3 portion came in Saturday's finale of the segment, with the $400,000 broodmare Way too Sexy. The 4-year-old daughter of Flatter sold carrying her first foal, by McKinzie, to Cary Bloodstock, as agent for Coteau Grove Farms. :: Play Keeneland with the most trusted information in horse racing! Last year's Keeneland November sale ran over nine sessions total, with a two-session Book 4 and two-session Book 5 concluding the sale. “This adjustment means buyers have a full day of breeding stock to evaluate, rather than two shorter sessions at the close of the sale,” Keeneland's senior director of sales operations Cormac Breathnach said. “We believe this format will maintain the dynamic marketplace for all participants.” The November breeding stock sale is immediately followed by the single-session Keeneland November horses of racing age sale on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
