Keeneland: McKeever playing hot hand

LEXINGTON, kY. - The spring meet at Keeneland has been an unforgettable one for Andrew McKeever, the 45-year-old Irishman who going into this week of action was tied for the lead atop the trainer standings with 4 winners from just 8 starters. Easily his most noteworthy score came Saturday with Daisy Devine in the Jenny Wiley, giving McKeever the first Grade 1 victory of his 17-year career.

Besides Daisy Devine, a front-running winner of the Jenny Wiley over the likes of Zagora and Aruna, McKeever also won an earlier maiden race on the Saturday card with Street Serenade. His wins earlier in the meet came with Granny Calling in a maiden-claiming sprint and Mr. Fuzzybottom in a starter-allowance sprint. He also sent out Ariana D to a third-place finish in the Grade 1 Madison last week.
