Keeneland January catalogs available

The catalog for the 2018 Keeneland January horses of all ages sale is now online, featuring 1,582 offerings over four sessions.

The auction will take place Jan. 8-11 in Lexington, Ky., beginning each day at 10 a.m. Eastern.

This year’s catalog features 677 broodmares and broodmare prospects, 628 newly turned or "short" yearlings, 264 horses of racing age, and 13 stallions and racing or stallion prospects.

“Results of Keeneland’s September yearling sale and November breeding stock sale indicate a strong market for quality Thoroughbreds that is expected to continue at the January sale,” Keeneland vice president of racing and sales Bob Elliston said. “The November sale market was so competitive that many buyers were not able to fill their orders. The January sale provides an opportunity to purchase exceptional individuals, particularly broodmares, short yearlings, and horses of racing age.”

Print catalogs will be mailed by the week of Dec. 18.

Stallions whose first yearlings are represented in the Keeneland January catalog include American Pharoah, Bayern, Bourbon Courage, Carpe Diem, Competitive Edge, Commissioner, Constitution, Danza, Daredevil, Fast Anna, Golden Ticket, Hakassan, Honor Code, Jack Milton, Japan, Karakontie, Lea, Liam’s Map, Majestic City, Medal Count, Micromanage, Mr Speaker, Normandy Invasion, Palace, Palace Malice, Race Day, Secret Circle, Seek Again, Sky Kingdom, Summer Front, Tapiture, Tonalist, and Wicked Strong.

New stallions whose first books are represented with pregnant mares in the catalog include Air Force Blue, Anchor Down, Brody’s Cause, California Chrome, Exaggerator, Firing Line, Flintshire, Mshawish, Not This Time, Runhappy, Speightster, Texas Red, and Vancouver.
