Keeneland January catalog includes 1,827 horses
Keeneland has cataloged 1,827 horses for its January horses of all ages sale, which runs over five sessions from Jan. 13 to 17.
The catalog, for which Keeneland will continue to accept supplemental entries, mainly consists of 800 youngsters who will be newly turned yearlings, 780 broodmares and broodmare prospects, and 190 racing or broodmare prospects. A selection of horses of racing age, including racing or stallion prospects, will also be offered.
The auction also will include a lifetime breeding right to the stallion Court Vision, winner of the 2011 Breeders' Cup Mile. Court Vision, the sire of 2019 Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner Storm the Court, stands at Acadiana Equine at Copper Crowne in Louisiana.

“The January Sale appeals to many prominent domestic and international breeders who are able to obtain quality broodmares before the start of breeding season,” Keeneland vice president of racing and sales Bob Elliston said in a release. “Another popular segment of the market is the selection of racing prospects and horses of racing age, which has yielded successful runners.”
First-crop sires who will be represented by short yearlings in the sale include Horse of the Year Gun Runner, with nine cataloged; fellow champion and leading money winner Arrogate, with three; and champion Runhappy, with six. The trio were the leading first-crop weanling sires at the November mixed auctions in Kentucky.
Triple Crown winner Justify will be represented by two mares carrying foals from his first crop. The nares are Group 3 winner Flattering and stakes winner Jenda's Agenda.
