Keeneland horses to watch: Week of Oct. 12
Dobra Historia
Trainer: Bill Mott
Last race: Oct. 4, 3rd
Finish: 1st by 1 3/4
Beyer: 58
Tossed his head in a slow-paced maiden race on the Polytrack, but then settled in a pocket behind horses. Once clear coming into the lane, he exploded away from the pack over the short stretch. Better than his 58 Beyer suggests, he may repeat if he shifts to turf at Churchill or is able to run back at Keeneland on Polytrack or turf.
Hungry Island
Trainer: Shug McGaughey
Last race: Oct. 5, 7th
Finish: 5th by 15 1/2
Beyer: 64
Never got involved in the First Lady, but it went during a rainstorm and after the course had been soaked. Toss the race out. The conditions were so poor that management moved the Shadwell to the Polytrack after the First Lady was run. An odds-building experience for Hungry Island.
Wine Princess
Trainer: Steve Margolis
Last race: Oct. 6, 8th
Finish: 3rd by 4 3/4
Beyer: 92
She ran an even third in the Spinster on Polytrack in a decent effort but seems vastly superior on dirt. Capable of bouncing back with a winning race at Churchill on dirt.
