Keeneland has 2,547 in January sale

Keeneland's January all-ages sale will have a catalog of 2,547 horses in 2008, the auction house announced Wednesday.

The sale will take place in Lexington, Ky., from Jan. 7 to 13. The catalog will feature 1,201 broodmares, 862 yearlings, 482 horses of racing age, and two stallions.

The catalog will be available online from the week of Dec. 4, and printed copies will be available the week of Dec. 17.

In 2007, the Keeneland January sale grossed a record $72,868,200 for 1,862 horses. It also posted an average of $39,134, down 12 percent from the previous season, and a $15,000 median, down 6 percent. The sale topper was $1.8 million Point Ashley, whom Hill 'n' Dale Farms bought from Ahmed Zayat.
