Keeneland fall stakes schedule largely unchanged
Officials at Keeneland Racecourse aren’t about to fix what isn’t broke. The 17-race stakes schedule for the fall meet in October at the Lexington, Ky., track was released Wednesday with virtually no change from the status quo.
As usual, the meet comes front-loaded with major preps toward the Breeders’ Cup. Nine graded races, all but one being Win and You’re In events toward the Nov. 3-4 Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar, will be run on the three-day opening weekend Oct. 6-8, including five Grade 1 events. The richest race is the $1 million Shadwell Turf Mile, set for the first of four Saturdays at the meet, Oct. 7. In all, stakes purses will total $5,325,000.
The 17-day meet runs Oct. 6-28.
