SPOT PLAYSRESISTIVITY (#10, 6-1) has some nice works showing for her debut and she'll be tough if she's able to run to them; expecting her to come out blasting from this wide post. -Kenny Peck Closer Looks >> |

SPOT PLAYSEBULLITION (#4) McPeek is among the very best East of the Mississippi in working with South American-breds such as this one, and in a wide-open MSW sprint, his steady preps serve as backup for what could be a somewhat surprisingly good debut. Price should be right, all things considered, and this guy is one to tab closely. – Marty McGee Iamdonewithmylawyer (#6, 9-2) is in the third start of his current form cycle after two runner-up finishes in turf sprints; now shifted to the Keeneland main track, but he handled the Poly previously at Turfway when second there in March. – Byron King VULNERABLE FAVORITEArriving (#10, 3-1) starts for a barn that typically wins at a high percentage at Keeneland, but he lost his last race by 28 lengths, hardly the kind of effort that warrants him being the public choice; also unraced on Poly. – Byron King Closer Looks >> |

ANALYSISThis is a typical renewal of the QE II, a turf race that draws many of the best from the 3-year-old turf-filly division in North America and beyond. Just have to assume that Alterite will be favored off that impressive 3-1 victory in the G1 Garden City in her stateside debut; she’s the best place to start as any. It’d be foolhardy to throw her out of the mix completely, but yes, there are a couple of others who look capable of mildly upsetting her, and there are others still who look like they can be part of the verticals. Kitten’s Dumplings could be the key to the whole thing. Regrouped at Trackside by Maker for Ramsey after that disappointing Del Mar Oaks defeat in which she had some minor excuses, she has the co-top Beyer (95) in the field and surely would benefit from a fast pace – one that might well develop given the presence of the Canadian filly Leigh Court and a couple others. Likewise, Say could be right there, assuming she rebounds off that debacle of a First Lady try, when Bravo said she was freaked out by the thunderstorm. Coolmore and O’Brien won the QE II two years ago with just this sort of one-week comebacker; can’t put anything past those guys, no sir. So let’s tie up Say (#2), Alterite (#4), and Kitten’s Dumplings (#7) in some superfectas, using them primarily in the top two holes and sprinkling in a few others in this fashion: 2-4-7 with 2-4-7 with 1-2-4-6-7-9 with 1-2-4-6-7-9, and variations thereof … best of luck. SPOT PLAYSI’M ALREADY SEXY (8-1) Got lucky and drew outside Leigh Court, the other speed, so she’s fine: Speedy, but can comfortably press as long as clear. I was a skeptic but she won me over with powerhouse finish at this trip in Pucker Up. Alterite did look good – but was the Garden City really that great? – Marcus Hersh Closer Looks >> |

SPOT PLAYS\CUE E DEE (#5) Was pretty evident from the start that this guy wasn’t handling the dirt all that well when mid-packing a decent cast of $50k mdn.-claimers over at CD. Now with the switch in surfaces and the subtle but critical notch-drop in class, he should be all set to revert to something resembling that 3-back turf try in Indy, when he was a force to be reckoned with. – Marty McGee Closer Looks >> |
